Ling Fell - Lake District Walk
Saturday 8th March 2008
The original plan had been to go to Keswick and then to do the walk as the forecast suggested that the rain would clear during the afternoon. As we drove towards Keswick the rain stopped and there was even one or two patches of blue sky visible so we headed straight to the start of the walk. As we set off up Ling Fell, intending to also do Sale Fell later, it started to drizzle but by the time we reached the summit the wind was making it difficult to stand still and it felt like buckets of rain were being thrown at us. We made a hasty retreat and retired to Keswick. Now if we had stuck to the original plan we would not only have enjoyed a dry walk but also have bumped into fellow O.F.C members, Ann and Roger Hiley, on Sale Fell.
