Hall Dale - Peak District Walk
Tuesday 20th August 2013
After my last two walks I decided that maybe it was time to listen to the doctor and give my ankles a chance to recover from Achilles Tendonitis. As this was my first walk in over a month and the first test for my ankles I wanted something that was both short and over easy terrain.
Start: Bent Lane (SK 2797 6476)
Route: Bent Lane - Hallmoor Wood - Hall Dale - Halldale Wood - Bent Lane
Distance: 2.5 miles Ascent: 135 metres Time Taken: 1 hour 25 mins
Terrain: Fields and woodland paths.
Weather: Warm and sunny.
Pub Visited: None Ale Drunk: None
Setting out along the very quiet Bent Lane.
The views extend across Darley Dale to Stanton Moor Plantation.
As I leave Bent Lane and head towards Hallmoor Wood the view across Darley Dale now includes a distant Riber Castle.
Hall Dale.
Possibly the prettiest entrance to a public footpath I have seen.
Hall Dale.
The point at which Hall Dale becomes Halldale Wood.
Just to prove it.
A lovely spot for a seat. I sat here listening to the sound of Halldale Brook far below me.
Halldale Brook.
I assume it's an old barn as there are no windows, but the chimney seems out of place.
It was in a nice location, with a view across Halldale Wood towards Seventy Acre Plantation.
