Stanton Moor - Peak District Walk
Thursday 12th June 2014
I set out this evening with two aims which resulted in something of a meander around the moor. I needed to check out a route on Stanton Moor and also hoped to get some shots of the Nine Ladies stone circle at sunset.
Start: Cork Stone entrance lay-by (SK 2419 6276)
Route: Stanton Moor (TP)
Distance: 4.25 miles Ascent: 164 metres Time Taken: 2 hours
Terrain: Clear tracks.
Weather: Warm
Pub Visited: None Ale Drunk: None
As I head towards the road I am treated to this view across the valley.
As I left the moor a grouse was guarding the stile.
The campsite's resident peacocks were keeping their eye on the campers.
Returning to the moor I passed the Cork Stone for a second time.
Heading across Stanton Moor.
The stone circle was rather busy so I headed out to the Reform Tower.
Having given up on the stone circle I took some sunset shots looking across the fields towards Manners Wood.
